In body in me
In Body in Me – I explore the subject of body dysmorphia and its physical and psychological impacts. It is also a focused reflection on the transformation of the body through the different stages of femininity. Hence the title of this series, which nods to the book Un corps en soi by French philosopher Camille Froidevaux-Metterie — a work that punctuates the lives of women and their self-image at every stage of their existence. In a system that educates and conditions us to perceive our bodies through the lens of patriarchy, it also addresses how to reclaim ownership of our bodily narrative.

In seeking to liberate my body from these constraints, I use material treatment and transformation to evoke discomfort, but also compassion, tenderness, and humor. The deformed breast, imperfect skin, and the body transformed by motherhood are all depicted. The choice of materials is instinctive, yet thoughtfully shaped to convey the idea. This series is an intimate discourse on female corporeality — a personal inquiry into my own body as it evolves within a society that continues to annihilate and objectify women.

1
The pendant titled “1” is part of a series exploring the breast through time. Caught between motherhood and the beauty standards we impose on ourselves—by choice or not—we fixate on this small, distorted breast that haunts the bathroom mirror.
Shaped in air-dry clay, the form is irregular, yet sensual and touched with humor. Once dried, the clay is colored with colored pencils, softening the message with delicate nuance.

Tits up!
- is a brooch made from reclaimed steel and pink polymer. The polymer has a soft, plastic-like appearance, evoking flesh—shaped into voluptuous, crude forms. A cluster of breasts is trapped within a rust-covered steel frame. On the back, a steel wire functions as the brooch fitting.
This piece is an allegory of the deep desire to conform to social standards of body image—often through means that are not without risk.

Peau (skin)
This brooch is composed of reclaimed steel, pink polymer, and sterling silver. The polymer is shaped, sanded, and engraved to evoke the impression of a piece of skin encased within rusted steel walls. The entire piece is riveted onto a sterling silver frame, with a steel pin fitting on the back.
The design evokes the obsession we can develop with a specific part of the body we perceive as inadequate, ugly, or deformed. These are often distorted perceptions of reality, yet we obsessively seek to alter or correct them.

sautoir 365 carved fresh water teinted pearls
365” is a pearl necklace composed of three hundred and sixty-five cultured pearls, each hand-carved on both sides with small, imperfect breasts. The piece interprets the psychological weight of scrutinizing one’s body in the mirror every day for a year.
The breasts are carved into bright orange-tinted cultured pearls with a soft rosy undertone. The design draws the viewer’s gaze to the pearls—just like in the mirror, where the whole body disappears, leaving only that small, obsessively examined breast.

necklace copper, liquid enamel, strerling silver and thread
“30” is a necklace composed of thirty forged copper pieces shaped like breasts, each with two silver rings, strung on a nylon thread. The piece is then coated with layers of liquid enamel in various colors and sanded down to reveal muted, faded tones—like pale skin losing its glow, giving way to the dullness of aging.
